On March 21, 2009 BSCLA hosted the annual
Golf Tournament to raise funds for scholarships to be
awarded to local high school students. |
A group of dedicated volunteers arrived at
the golf course before the break of dawn to begin
preparations for what promised to be an exciting day.
Players from the ten teams began to arrive at Baytree
National Golf Links to register around 7:15 a.m. for an 8
a.m. shot-gun start. The weather was beautiful as the
teams lined up to begin 18 holes of golf.
Overall, the tournament raised $2161 towards the scholarship
fund. The GPS Team sponsored a hole for $215, and Peak
Contracting sponsored a hole for $200. Many local
businesses donated prizes for this event.
The first place team consisted of Will Leonard, Callahan,
Allamon, and Holmes. Coming in second was the team of
Polniak, Fleming, and English. Finally, the third
place team included Mike Woolley, Woolley, Tim LaMunyon, and
Follick. Ray Polniak won the Men's Closest to the Pin
and Lynn Pemberton was the Women's Closest to the Pin
winner. James Roberts won the Men's Longest Drive and
Michele Lawrence won the Women's Longest Drive.
Congratulations to all the winners!!
During the tournament BSCLA announced the winners of the
Hotel Raffle. Kim Holt won the two night stay at the
Radisson in Cocoa Beach, and Ken Bisnath won the two night
stay at the Doubletree in Cocoa Beach. Wil Leonard's
lucky ticket number 203166 was drawn for the 50/50 winner,
