The Florida Space Coast
Council (FSCC) presented the National Management
Association (NMA) Management Week in America
(MWIA) Awards Banquet on June 4th, 2009 at the Patrick Air
Force Base club, The Tides. The MWIA Awards Banquet
is a celebration to recognize the highest standards of
management and leadership in Brevard County.
The
evening started with a most excellent networking session
where we enjoyed our teammates and compadres and met new
friends. At the appointed time the guests were called
to their seats and Mike Woolley, the Master of Ceremony
(MC) began the formal portion of the event. After a
short introduction, Susan Cart, the FSCC President
led the assemblage in the Pledge of Allegiance and delivered
an inspired prayer. The masses were invited to begin
their meal and enjoy the company of their table companions.
After a delicious meal the MC began the formal
presentations.
Many government entities State,
County, Cities and Towns agree that management and
leadership should be celebrated. We acquired several
resolutions and proclamations from them. The FSCC
Awards Committee Chairwoman, Shirley Jenkins read the
Proclamation by the Florida State Governor and the Brevard
County Commission Resolution, then she enumerated the
resolutions from 10 cities, and town in Central Florida.
The FSCC also recognized the member chapters who
participated in council programs and took actions to promote
stronger, more successful chapters. The program is
based on a point system which rewards chapters for providing
their members the opportunity to develop into good leaders.
The Boeing Space Coast Leadership Association (BSCLA),
the Lockheed Martin Leadership Association (LMLA), and
the United Space Alliance Leadership Association (USALA)
earned the 2008-2009 FSCC Outstanding Chapter Award.
Each year the FSCC honors an individual whose leadership
style and business insight have done much to impact their
organization and/or community by presenting the Brevard
County Manager of the Year. A diverse selection
committee consisting of several area leaders deliberated
over the many nominations submitted from organizations
throughout the county. Please join me in
congratulating the 2009 Brevard County Manager of the
Year Award recipient, Kimberly Meehan Agee, Senior
Director, Competitive Advancement, of the Space Coast
Economic Development Commission. |
